Welcome to my Web page, where you can accompany me  on my visits to the Guadalcanal battlefields during 1995 - 2004

I live in Melbourne,Australia and have been into Military history since I was a kid. During 1995 - 99 I made 4 trips to explore the Guadalcanal land battlefields. My most recent trip was in August 2004 .The ethnic violence of 1999 - 2003 on Guadalcanal made battlefield explorations a no go , but  I had no trouble on this  trip. Still plenty to see - some sites are more overgrown than in 1999 and some have been cleared for better access.

The Battles of Guadalcanal and Stalingrad were fought half a world apart,but at the same time ; August 1942 - February 1943 . I have even heard Guadalcanal called "The Stalingrad of the Pacific".
